Radrodro hits back on Judas claim over PAC controversy.

Some SODELPA officials are calling for the expulsion of MP Aseri Radrodro from the party.

The angry calls are in a heated exchange of emails over the Public Accounts Committee controversy.

One official described him as Judas, after Judas Iscariot , one of 12 disciples of Jesus Christ. Judas betrayed Jesus.

He wrote: “Can we afford to have Judases amongst us if we seriously want to defeat the Bainimarama Government at the next election?”

The flareup came after former PAC chairman Biman Prasad had questioned Mr Radrodro whether he had complained to the Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum about his performance. Mr Prasad resigned from PAC after he was voted out as chairman. Mr Radrodro is still a PAC member. He has declined to comment saying he will await the decision of Opposition leader Ro Teimumu Kepa. Ro Teimumu is in the United States and could not be reached to comment.

But in an email  response to the SODELPA official’s email he said he had been forced to comment by the “Judas” statements. He said he was “quite furious in the way I was ambushed by Biman in front of the media.” He said he had “to bite my tongue and adopt a no comment stance instead of walking out of the room.” He said Ro Teimumu had asked him to support Mr Prasad.

Adi Litia Qionibaravi, SODELPA’s general secretary, said the parliamentary caucus would discuss the issue first. She said the matter would be referred to the party’s disciplinary committee if there was a complaint. So far there was none.

She said everything was hearsay at the moment and evidence was needed. She appealed to members to stop publicly discussing the issue.

If Mr Radrodro is expelled from the party, he would lose his parliamentary seat. Businesswoman Mere Samisoni is next on the list if Mr Radrodro goes.
