Vodafone Fiji presented $5000 worth of sponsorship for the 60th South Pacific Bowling Carnival which will be held at the Suva Bowling Club from May 29 to June 5.

The sponsorship includes five Samsung Galaxy J1 Ace phones, 200 starter packs with $15 free talktime and data.

Sponsorship manager Adriu Vakarau said they were delighted to be involved with the sport again.

“We are proud to be involved again after some time and we are looking forward to a successful competition,” Vakarau said in Suva yesterday.

Teams will be competing in the pairs, mixed fours and singles events.

Organising committee chairman Samuela Tui said they were on track with their preparation.

“We are anticipating a successful competition, we’ve a total of 150 participants and there are more overseas participants,”Tui said.

The women’s team comprise of Litia Tikoisuva, Sheryl Mar, Elizabeth Moceiwai, Veitinia Tubuna, Loreta Kotoisuva and Sai Walker.

The men’s team includes Samuela Tui, Semesa Naiseruvati, Munesh Prasad, Arun Kumar, Kushal Pillay and Munesh Prasad.

The Fijian bowlers will be vying for a spot in the 2016 World Bowls Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand from November 26 to December 11.

“The top five bowlers will be selected for the World Bowls so this South Pacific Bowling Carnival will serve as trials for us,” Tui said.
