Seru Pepeli Rabavou was amongst the thousands of people who flocked to the Commissioner Western’s Office in Lautoka yesterday to make use of the Government’s Help for Homes Initiative.

Mr Rabavou, 63, of Tomuka, Lautoka was one of the recipients of the electronic card which could be used to buy hardware materials to fix the roof of his house which was damaged by Cyclone Winston.

When interviewed, he said the initiative would go a long way for his family.

“After the cyclone, the roof of our house got destroyed and this money will be used to put a roof on our head,” Mr Rabavou said.

“This $1500 that I have received will be put to good use so that my entire family can benefit.”

He also mentioned that his family would be able to resume living together and have the usual family moments they used to have before their house got damaged.

“My son is currently studying from my family’s home in Ba and after we are able to fix the house he can come back to his Lautoka home and start his school again,” he said.

“We can have our family time back and I would like to thank the current Government for the help and placing families at the centre of their attention.”
