The Lautoka Netball Association club competition got underway at the multi-purpose courts yesterday.

Ministry of Youth and Sports principal youth officer (West) Valami Naloga, congratulated the association for organising the two-day event.

“I must congratulate the management of Lautoka Netball for sacrificing and providing for our young people,” Naloga said. “The ministry is committed to reaching youths in urban and rural areas.

“Sports play a major role in our society today especially in developing people mentally, and physically.”

Co-ordinator Balavu Tora was grateful for the support they received.

“We are thankful of the support from the Lautoka City Council, Coral View Resort, Coca-Cola and Punjas,” Tora said.

Fifteen senior teams, 15 Open teams, eight U15 and four U12 teams are taking part in the competition which will finish tomorrow.
