Government yesterday received assistance from the Nauru Fijian community in support of the recovery efforts after Tropical Cyclone Winston.

First Secretary for Nauru High Commission based in Suva, Josie-Ann Jacob said the assistance was from various contributions received from their members.

The Permanent Secretary for Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, Meleti Bainimarama while receiving the donations expressed gratitude on behalf of the Fijian Government.

Mr Bainimarama said the donation signified the deep relationship shared between Pacific Island countries.

The donation which included clothing, beddings, kitchenware and food items would be distributed to the divisional commissioners who will then distribute it to the Winston-affected communities.
