Youth Ministry Continues Campaign

Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Iliesa Delana was in Malolo this week reaching out to rural and remote youth clubs.

While in Malolo, Mr Delana visited the villages of Solevu, Yaro, Yanua and Tavua where he urged youths to explore the many opportunities which exists within the youth programmes offered by the ministry.

“Youths are to be constantly reminded and empowered and shown that they can achieve more,” Mr Delana said.

“These outreach visits are to bolster the minds of Fijian youths that Government is serious in developing them so they can secure their future today.

“The free education tuition, free textbooks, and bus fares provided by Government are targetted at developing young minds and that is how serious Government is towards youth development.”

Mr Delana said that these had to be emphasised not only to youths but also to the leaders of each community that “unless they partner and collectively put their efforts together with Government and other youth advocates, our efforts to develop Fiji will take much longer.

“Religious, civil and non-governmental organisations are to partner with Government in the area of youth development so youths may actively participate in nation-building,” Mr Delana said.
