$275k collected in foreign investor fees

Fourth quarter registrations attract a proposed $315 million investment with 887 job creation opportunities
Investment Fiji received a total of $275,000 in foreign investor registration fees for the last quarter of 2015 covering the months of October to December.
Chief executive, Godo Müller-Teut, said there were 106 Foreign Investor Registration Certificate applications registered with a proposed investment value of $315 million.
These are expected to create 887 jobs.
Sectors that largely attracted interest were services, wholesale and retail, and tourism.
Mr Müller-Teut said: “The amount collected in Foreign Investor Registration fees reflects the attractiveness of Fiji as an investment destination due to the pro-business policies of the Fijian Government.
“Investment Fiji is proud to be part of this success and will continue to market Fiji to the world with dedication and enthusiasm.”
Finance Permanent Secretary Makereta Konrote thanked Investment Fiji for the contribution and said the Government was gratified by the confidence being shown in Fiji by foreign investors.
“Hundreds of jobs are being generated throughout a range of sectors in the economy and this is not only boosting the performance of these sectors but Fiji’s economic performance as a whole,” she said.
