The engineers of inter-island vessel MV Uluinabukelevu 1 are waiting for the arrival of spare parts before they could start with the repair works.

The vessel encountered engine problems while servicing the Kadavu route early this month and had to be brought to Suva.

Valesasa Transportation Company Limited manager Ilaitia Caginavanua said they had to import one part of the engine from China.

“We are hoping to receive it sometime this week,” he said yesterday.

In an earlier interview Mr Caginavanua said the engineers have been instructed to carry out an overhaul of the vessel’s main engine.

He said the engine repairs should take about 10 to 12 days and the company is expecting the vessel to resume operation soon.
