The Vodafone Fijian 7s team received bonus cheques $75,000 from major sponsors Vodafone Fiji during the celebration in Suva yesterday.

The Ben Ryan coached-side received $15,000 for reaching the finals in Paris, $10,000 for reaching the semi-final in London and $50,000 for winning the overall 7s series title.

Vodafone Fiji chief financial officer Divik Deo confirmed that this season they have given out a total of $194,000 as bonus payout.

“As major sponsors I am most honoured and extremely proud to be standing with you, our heroes, welcome home boys.

“At a time when the country has gone through so much, you have brought great joy to uplift the entire nation by winning the series.

“You have been fantastic all season and we salute you for your pride, passion and patriotism for our country.” Deo said.

Free tickets from Fiji Airways

National airline Fiji Airways also gave players an air ticket each and players can choose to fly to any of Fiji Airways destinations.

Fiji Airways executive general manager Shaenaz Voss handed over the air tickets to the players at the celebration ceremony yesterday.

Fiji Airways manager public relations and communications Shane Hussein thanked the team for an impressive performance.

“It is the things you do on the field that inspires the more than 800,000 odd Fijians and those abroad.

He added there were more prizes expected.

Fiji Rugby acknowledges support

The Fiji Rugby Union chairman Francis Kean acknowledged the major sponsors, consortium of sponsors, the Government and supporters for backing the team.

“Congratulation to the boys and to the captain Osea, we as Fijians salute you and the boys for your achievement.

“The journey of our national 7s team will not be possible through the support of the consortium of sponsors and Fijian fans at home,” Kean said.
