SVC Girls Aim To Defend Title

Swami Vivekananda College is aiming to retain their girls’ title in the 2016 Fiji National Schools Swimming Championship at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre today.
Under the guidance of coaches Marlene Blake and Rosemary Rova, manager Vika Bakewa said they were well on track to defending their girls’ title.
“We are aiming to maintain our success from last year, so our goal this year is to retain the girls’ title and we are aiming to improve on the boys’ performance,” Bakewa said.
“The competition has been really tough which is good as we need to try harder.
“Our boys lost out to Marist Brothers last year and we are slowly improving and definitely working hard.”
Given the short amount of time they have had to prepare, Bakewa said the swimmers had done well.
“The swimmers are performing to expectations, they were reminded about it and I must say they have done extremely well,” he said.
“There were no records broken by our swimmers but they have improved a lot since the short time they have trained for the championships.
“Taichi Vakasama and Moana Wind are two of the most impressive swimmers on Day One. The coaches and management are very proud of how they performed.”
The Fiji National School Swimming Championship ends today at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre.
