Police are still looking for the three men who were involved in a robbery in Samabula earlier this month.

US-based Fijian couple Pratibha and Praveen Maharaj were attacked by three men who pounced on their car and robbed them of $10,000 worth of assorted items including jewellery and cash.

The Maharajs have lived in San Francisco, California, for the last 21 years.

They were getting into their vehicle at Kaba Street in Samabula, Suva, when they were attacked. They were going to attend a prayer at the Samabula Temple.

Items such as phones, assorted jewellery, cash, their passports and foreign currency were stolen. The men also took the key of the rental car.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said: “No one has been arrested yet in that case of robbery.

“However Police managed to recover some of the victim’s stolen properties after a thorough search in the area.

“We are pursuing some leads and putting all our efforts in trying to solve the case.

“We also appeal to members of the public for information. Please call Crime Stoppers on 919 if you have any information,” he said.

Inspector Weicavu said anyone with information leading to an arrest and recovery of stolen items will be given a reward.
