Veremalua Steps Up For Rio And Carnival

The man who topped the DHL Performance Tracker of the 2015/16 World Sevens Series is determined to make the 12-member team to the Rio Olympic Games in August.
Yesterday he was at the Vodafone Sigatoka Coral Carnival escorting the contestants to the stage.
Speaking to SUNsports, tireless Vodafone Fijian 7s forward Jasa Veremalua said he is taking a break but is continuing on his training at home.
“Rio is my ultimate goal,” the Korotogo native from Nadroga said.
When asked on why he was taking part in the carnival, he said, it means a lot to him since he grew up there.
“I’m now giving back to the community and I enjoyed preparing the stage with the Vodafone staff.
“This is also part of my break from training where I go out to meet the fans.
“Vodafone is doing something great in the community and we in Sigatoka always appreciate the carnival.”
In an earlier interview Vodafone Fijian 7s manager Ropate Kauvesi said they are on track for the Olympic Games in August.
“It has been a tough series as to be number one in the world with the Olympics at the end with other teams putting their hands up as well,” he added.
