One hundred-and-sixty-six Fijian passports are still to be collected by applicants.

Some had been there since 2006, said Director of Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa. He said one of the reasons why a passport had not been collected was that the applicant had died.

Mr Vuniwaqa said: “There was a recent case where an applicant’s daughter called informing us that her mother was deceased.”

Mr Vuniwaqa has called on the applicants of these passports to come forward and collect their passports.

“People need to come and collect their passports from the Department of Immigration,” he said.

The list of names that own the 166 uncollected passports  was advertised in the Fiji Sun yesterday.

Mr Vuniwaqa said the passports, if remained uncollected, would still be kept by his department.
