Two separate clashes near Sigatoka on the Queens Highway landed the drivers of four vehicles along with the passengers in the hospital.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said both the incidents involved head on collisions.

“Drivers from both the accidents lost control of their vehicles and veered to the opposite lane causing the accident,” Inspector Weicavu said.

“All four drivers and their four passengers are admitted at the hospital.”

He said the two drivers and a pregnant lady had been transferred to Lautoka Hospital because of the seriousness of the accident.

“The remaining two drivers and the passengers travelling with them are still admitted at the Sigatoka Hospital.”

Inspector Weicavu has urged drivers to follow basic road rules to avoid such accidents.

“It is advised that we drive with extreme care and attention and adhere to basic road rules for the safety of all road users.

“These accidents could have been avoided had drivers observed and followed basic simple road rules.”

No one has been charged yet as the drivers were still recovering at the hospital.
