Kadavu vessel awaits MSAF clearance

The engineers of the inter-island vessel MV Uluinabukelevu I have received the spare parts from China and have completed repair works on the engine.
Vessel owner Vanua Valesasa Transportation Company Limited has confirmed yesterday that their operations are going to start later this week.
Company manager Ilaitia Caginavanua said they have received a list of requirements from the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) on Monday after their engineers surveyed the vessel.
“There are some minor things that MSAF wants to be upgraded on the vessel and it will take us a few days to complete it,” Mr Caginavanua said. “We will be having another survey tomorrow. Once that is done we will be able to confirm the time that we will start sailing again.”
Mr Caginavanua said the new engine parts that were brought from China cost the company around $1,000.
