I’m Just 2 Secs Off: Buadromo

National swimming rep Matelita Buadromo will aim for her personal best at the upcoming Oceania Swimming Championships in Suva from June 19-25.
Buadromo is hopeful to make the qualifying time as she has been undergoing top class training with some of the professionals overseas.
“My event is the 200 metres freestyle and I’m just 2 seconds off to qualifying to Rio so hopefully I get the cut on the day,” she said.
“I just returned from Brisbane last week, I finished off a good training camp and I was lucky enough to train with four of the Olympic swimmers.”
She anticipates the best for Oceania with the aim to qualify and represent Fiji to the 2016 Rio Olympics with teammate Meli Malani.
“I feel pretty excited since we know that Oceania is going to be the last qualifying competition for Rio so I will be looking forward to qualify,” she said.
She said training has been on track with the Oceania Swimming Championships being a few days away.
“It’s been good, it was pretty intense, I did a lot of things for the first time like altitude training but I know it also helps with fitness and everything,” she said.
Buadromo thanked everyone for the support she had been receiving and urges the public to come down in numbers to support the national team for the Oceania Swimming Championship.
