¼ Mile And Drag Wars Both On
FCC Awards 2

Hello fellow car enthusiasts.  I have some exciting news for you all – we have confirmed a dual race event for tomorrow.

This will be a quarter mile drag race which is seconds based racing and we will also have drag wars which is side-by-side racing.

The reason we have decided to have two of these events together is to create more awareness and more excitement for members. This is the first time we are doing this.

All the executives are working hard to ensure tomorrow’s race is done perfectly. We are expecting close to 40 cars coming in given this will be for both quarter mile and drag wars.

Due to time restrictions, we will only allow one vehicle to choose either they would take part in the quarter mile or the drag wars.

The reason we have done this is because we know racers have their own style of racing. Some are dedicated quarter mile specialists while some are drag war specialists.

We do not want to be in a position where racers start to get confused as to which event to take part in.

I personally feel this is the way forward for the Fiji Car Club but I will have to talk with the executives and decide after the race if this was successful or not.

As usual we will have our regulars, Ravin Nath, Tauz Khan and Lawrence Ah Sam taking part. And also I have received confirmation that Rashid Hussein’s Subaru STI will hit the tracks tomorrow.

Registrations and participation

I again request race drivers to be in early. We will open the gate at 9am and close registration at sharp 11am.

Latecomers – which is after 11am – will need to pay a penalty of $50 for late entry. We are expecting a lot of cars tomorrow so we will start on time.

We are very thankful to Global Warehouse (Fiji) Limited for sponsoring tomorrow’s drag which will be known as Penrite Quarter Mile Drag Racing.

Also note that we will have two categories for hybrid – under 2000cc and over 2000cc. If you are already a member of FCC and want to compete in the hybrid class, you will only need to pay $30.

This is only for hybrid cars. As usual, ladies will be racing for free but they should become members first.

Awards night

Our awards night was very successful. It was a bit delayed because of the Cyclone Winston – but nonetheless, we had a very successful event the past Sunday.

Ravindra Nath once again took the major award. We had around 40 trophies given out.

Please note it is very important to attend all the events as 10 points will go towards your final tally for the awards night.

It is not necessary for racing but any events and that includes car shows as well. This way we would get more people or racers involved in racing.
