SODELPA Opposition Member of Parliament Ratu Isoa Tikoca yesterday sparked heated exchanges over his unsubstantiated claims in Parliament about  appointments of chief executive officers of various organisations.

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was speaking in support for the motion to suspend National Federation Party MP Roko Tupou  Draunidalo when Ratu Isoa raised a point of order.

“When you talk about the biggest tragedy , the biggest tragedy when in front of the needy people you are promoting your own kind , in almost all CEO appointments in this country, where is the balance?”

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum, demanded to know what Ratu Isoa meant by  his “kind” .

“He said I am promoting people of my own kind , that is making a communal reference. The Standing Order doesn’t  allow for a member of the House to make communal references. What is my own kind ? People from Nadroga ? Muslim? Because I am Fijian? Because I went to Marist? What is my own kind? You tell me, what is my own kind?” Ratu Isoa did not repond.
