A tourist from USA, AJ Prasad, who is here visiting family, toured down the Cumming Street in Suva to shop around from the Suva on Sale event.

Mr Prasad said he found quality items and cheaper prices at the sale compared to the sales overseas.

He said the food in Fiji is so food that he believed he had gained weight and came down to look for a weighing scale.

“I was walking down and saw big tents set up and crowds here.

“I came down looking for the scale and I am happy I found it at New Homeland’s stall for a cheaper price.

“It’s been long since I have heard about the Suva on Sale. But I am glad to see its back and the city is on fire!” Mr Prasad said.

“Fiji is catching up to the trends of what is new and exciting that is happening in overseas and it is great to see Fiji’s economy growing.

“People are investing into starting up new businesses in Fiji hence generating more income for the country,” Mr Prasad said.

For taxi driver, Aryan Narayan, 26, said after a long time taxi drivers got a chance to earn a bit extra as taxi were in demand after shopping at the Suva on Sale.

“I am happy that the event started again which helps all of us taxi drivers to earn more.”

He said he came down with his wife to do shopping and decided to stop by and check out the event.

“I am impressed on the specials the retailers have put out there,” Mr Narayan said.

A housewife, Urmila Kumar, 50, shopping with her husband Shiu Kumar, 53, a carpenter, said she was just waiting for the sale to start.

“We have been waiting for the sale so we could buy quality electrical appliances on a discounted price.

“I thank everyone who took the initiative to come out and bring specials during this sale,” Mrs Kumar said.
