Each year at this time International School Nadi (ISN), becomes a hive of activity with staff, students and parents coming together for their annual Fun Day.

Principal Hector Hatch said, “The Fun Day is all about ISN and the greater Nadi community coming together for a day of fun and fundraising for a number of voluntary organisations who give back so generously to our communities in Fiji.”

He said organisations likes Animals Fiji, Rise Beyond the Reef, and Sea Mercy do tremendous work for the community.

“This year they have come together on many occasions in response to the crises many communities in Fiji had faced.

TC Winston, Zena and the floods continue to affect the lives of many families in Nadi and around Fiji and these organisations continue to bring hope and relief,” Mr Hatch said.

He said the focus on community was a major emphasis in the International Baccalaureate Curriculum under which the school operates.

“With its focus on Globalisation and Sustainability, events like the Fun Day allow teachers and students to support organisations who address issues of global importance in a fun and creative way.”

Parent Teacher Association (PTA) chairperson Jules Samuels said the fun day was about the community coming together to have ‘fun’ in an entertaining atmosphere; to celebrate the different cultures in our school.

She said, “At the same time we are able to inform our visitors of the various facilities and courses we have on offer here at ISN.”

Each class at ISN organises their own stall; some examples including lucky dip, water play, spin the wheel, snow cones, bouncy castle, tin can knockdown, locally designed tea towels and aprons that make delightful souvenirs or gifts, not forgetting the famous Haunted House and the huge Fun Day raffles.

Other varieties of food stalls were erected with various dishes and BBQ, The Cafe offering a real coffee from Bulaccino, Hot cassava chips, Bu, carnival food and so much more.
