Police is treating a house fire an arson case where two people are currently admitted at the Lautoka Hospital.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the incident happened in Nawakalevu, near Nawaka in Nadi where a couple’s two-bedroom corrugated-iron home was completely destroyed by fire.

“Two people are admitted at the Lautoka Hospital after they sustained burns when their home was completely destroyed by fire. It is alleged arson and joint investigations by Fiji Police and NFA is underway,” she said.

Ms Naisoro said the cause of fire was not known yet.

However, according to a neighbor, Alena Eta, the fire was a result of a heated arguement between the couple that evening.

One of the neighbors alerted the Nadi Fire Authority and the Police; who rushed to stop the fire but were too late.
