A 35-year-old woman and 27-year-old man are currently recovering at the Lautoka hospital. The two are alleged to be victims of a house fire in Nawakalevu, in Nawaka, Nadi last Saturday evening.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said: “The 35-year-old woman received 50 per cent burns and is currently admitted at the trauma ward while the 27-year-old man received 17 per cent burns and is currently admitted at the Male Burns Unit in Lautoka.”

She said Police are still awaiting a report from National Fire Authority to determine the cause of fire.

The fire destroyed a two bedroom corrugated house.

Police earlier told the Fiji Sun they were treating the incident of house fire as an arson case.

“Police will not conduct investigations as of now due to the condition of the two victims,” she said.
