After three days of tight racing in the Hobie World Championships in Dapeng China, Fiji’s Grahame Southwick and crew Sharon Rayner finished in first place and taken out the World Great Grand Master title.

This is the first time that Fiji has ever won a World Hobie title.

“This is a wonderful moment and I’m delighted,”Southwick said.

“I’m proud to have represented our country successfully against some of the world’s best.”

Conditions were tough with winds ranging from mild seven to eight knots to gusts of 40 knots plus that upended more than half the fleet.

Southwick and Rayner led the race from Rod and Kerry Waterhouse of Australia.
