Ambassador Kau Presents Credentials In Myanmar

Ambassador Filimone Kau recently presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Myanmar, U Htin Kyaw at the Presidential Palace in Naypyidaw, Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

President Kyaw acknowledged Fiji’s continuous efforts for world peace through its involvement in United Nations peacekeeping operations.

He noted the warm and friendly relations Myanmar and Fiji enjoyed internationally, particularly at the United Nations.

President Kyaw also expressed his well wishes on behalf of his people and the Government of the Union of Myanmar to the people of Fiji and the Fijian Government.

Ambassador Kau is also Fiji’s non-resident Ambassador to Kyrgyz Republic, Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Uzbekistan.

The Fijian Government in its new ‘Look North’ foreign policy with the mantra “Friend to All and Enemy to None” is seeking to enhance and strengthen its diplomatic relations with countries in South East Asia particularly with members of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Myanmar is a member of the ASEAN and part of ASEAN +3 and East Asia Summit.

Fiji established formal diplomatic relations with Republic of the Union of Myanmar on May 10th, 2010.
