Ferry Owner Welcomes Jetty Upgrade
The current Natuvu jetty in Cakaudrove planned to be rennovated soon.

The owner of inter- island ferry MV Taveuni Princess Captain Soniya Thakur appreciates the move to upgrade Natuvu Jetty, which is outside Savusavu Town.

“Taking care of the jetty will mean more people travelling and will help businesses and the development of infrastructure that will surely benefit nearby residents,” Ms Thakur said.

Speaking from Dubai yesterday she said plans for the construction of the jetty would really boosts people’s movement in and out of Taveuni.

Thakur who had been operating her ferry for the past 15 years said other large vessels and fibre boats who also use the jetty should join in to help those involved in the upgrading works.

“Before a few of us carried out maintenance works on the jetty and it cost us between $5,000 to $7,000. “We had to replace the old timbers and also fix large gaps as we tried our best to keep it safe for the passengers.”
