Education Minister Mahendra Reddy has promised the Chauhan Primary School management that the ministry will provide staff quarters for the school in 2017.

He was reacting to a report that no staff were at the school to monitor the school properties as thefts had happened in the school located at Veisari.

Mr Reddy said the ministry would start off with one staff quarter and it should be ready by next year.

He praised the school management for the construction of two new classrooms costing more than $35,000 which he opened yesterday.

The Minister said their careful management of their grants had enabled them to use the surplus to build the new classrooms.

Mr Reddy when driving up the school saw students lining up the driveway.

He stopped and walked up shaking hands with all the students.

Chauhan Primary School is one of the 117 schools owned by the Sanatan community in Fiji.

The management has also requested the minister if they could run a secondary school there to cater for the students in that area.
