Resort managers on Coral Coast have allied with the Ministry of Health, in the fight against mosquito-borne diseases, in the Nadroga/Navosa Province.

Last week, Resort Managers handed over two new mechanical sprayers, which will now be used by the health department in Nadroga/ Navosa.

It will be used to eradicate mosquito breeding places and help end the spread of mosquito borne diseases.

Coral Coast chapter of Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association chairman Peter Hopgood said it was important that all of Fiji get behind the Prime Minister and support this “Fight the Bite” initiative.

Mosquito-borne diseases have an enormous impact on our staff and their communities, he said.

“If not controlled it also has the potential to impact our tourism industry.”

During the ceremony, Mr Hopgood also committed the Coral Coast chapter association to providing two cheques, each, worth $1000.

He said the funds would be used to drive competitions in the province and awarded to the cleanest village and the cleanest school, in the Nadroga/ Navosa province.

The winners would be determined by the regional education officer and also the Regional Health Department.
