‘Help For Homes’ Reaches Maritime People

The shipment of hardware items to assist Cyclone Winston victims in maritime communities started in Koro Island last weekend.

These hardware materials were distributed to families living on the island who have applied for housing assistance under the ‘Help for Homes’ initiative.

Villagers living there had their hardware items shipped directly and transported to their villages at no cost – a move designed to alleviate any financial burden on the victims and to give them an immediate head-start in rebuilding their homes, lives and communities. Engineers from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) are also on the island helping villagers in the rebuilding process.

This is the first phase of the maritime shipment of these hardware items and will continue over the next few weeks.
