Auckland’s Shaman arrived at Port Denarau late Wednesday night to finish third overall in the ANZ Sail Fiji’s Auckland–Port Denarau race.

The 88 foot cruiser racer with 12 crew members on board crossed the line at a time of 4 days, nine hours, 46 minutes and 36s.

Skipper Gary Lewis said they had enjoyed their time on board as they made their way to Fiji.

“For me sailing with my family and friends was great,” he said.

“It is not the first time we have been hit with that kind of rough weather on our way, but the condition really suited us.”

The 70-year-old businessman said they are going to stay in Fiji for the next two months.

“We have lots of family members coming up and I want to go cruising with my wife, grandchildren and friends.

“My brother’s got friends who are also coming up, to go cruising and snorkeling as well.

“We are planning to have lots of fun here and enjoy with the Fijian people and we love to hear bula everywhere we go and we look forward to this.”
