Lifehouse is a world renowned rock band from Los Angeles, USA. The band is famous for its hit songs like “Hanging by A Moment” which was from their debut album, and became the number 1 hit single in the USA and also won the Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year.

Their other songs that have also made the list were “You and Me” “First Time” and “Whatever It Takes” to name a few hits which have all been in the top 40 charts in the US. The rock band has sold well over 20 million albums worldwide.

The band is multi-talented with a mix of soft rock and also love ballads, to add to this the lead singer Jason Wade has one of the finest and most unique voices you could hope to hear.

Jason Wade is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist who was the co-founder of the group. Impressively Wade never had any formal music training but taught himself how to play the guitar and began writing his own songs and lyrics. This might also give young musicians in our region hope that you don’t necessarily need any formal musical training to succeed, but passion and desire are key elements to fulfilling your dreams.

Rick Woolstenhulme who plays the drums was discovered when he bumped into the band in a hallway and was later picked by Lifehouse to replace their original drummer John “Diff” Palmer. Rick has played for numerous recording artists such as Britney Spears, Rihanna, Lee Nash, Matchbox 20 and Rolling Stones in addition to his work with Lifehouse.

Bryce Soderberg joined Lifehouse after he was recommended by friends of the band. Bryce is a multi-talented musician who can be on lead vocals, but mostly plays the bass guitar and backing vocals. During the interview with the band Bryce told me he had played rugby in the position of lock forward in his university days, Bryce said that the No. 5 position as jumper was always his and he enjoyed every aspect of the game. Unfortunately as the game is not known in America there was very little scope to develop his skills.

I recently caught up with Lifehouse at a charity event I was a guest at in Los Angeles. The band was playing there that evening to a select audience of the Hollywood elite. The evening was a star studded event and the theme of the show was to raise money for cancer survivors.

What I did notice straight away while hanging with the band was their very down to earth and calm nature. They were also very open and humorous, which showed how well the band bonded and got along.

I was also impressed with their popularity in the US and during their concert the crowd were screaming out their names. I must admit I was also enjoying their performance as well.

After the dust had settled and we were backstage, I popped the question as to whether they required my services as lead singer. Well the good news is they offered me a place in the band unfortunately it was a job as their bodyguard.

I am happy to report that the band is also very well known in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific and their song “You And Me” was a huge hit in the region.

On a personal note their video “You And Me” which is on YouTube is one of the most touching songs I have heard, with well over 70 million views I am sure I might not be the only person who thinks that.

It was a privilege and pleasure interviewing this renowned rock band who I will certainly keep in touch with. They performed beautifully and surprisingly they sound even better live than they do in their recordings, which is the ultimate compliment.
