New Zealand professional Mike Hendry won the 2016 Starwood Golf Classic tournament last Saturday.

The Auckland resident won $11,000 after carding a total 271, three better than Tim Hart of Australia.

The tournament was played at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club and the Natadola Bay Golf Championship Golf Course.

Local professional Sam Lee finished in third spot carding a total 278 (69, 71, 74, 64).

“I enjoyed the competition but it was tough, ” he said.

“I’m looking forward to the Fiji Open next weekend.”

Inaugural Fijian International winner Steven Jefferess of Australia came fourth on 279 while Kieran Muir and Pieter Zwart both tied at 280.

Tournament organiser Richard Ellis said the seventh edition was a hit.

“The event gets bigger and bigger with over 200 players taking part and a boost to the Fijian economy,” he said.
