On board the Fiji Airways Airbus A330-300 flight from Nadi to Hong Kong, paying for a Business Class ticket is good value for money.

For that extra money spent, you not only get priority check-in and access to Tabua Lounge, but the friendly service and the wide seats.

The seats doubles at a 180 degree, lie-in and extra leg-room makes all the difference for a 10 hour journey.

The service: Very good. Each of the senior cabin crew who man the pointy end of the plane are always on hand on make your journey as comfortable as possible. Very friendly and very helpful who are not shy to go the extra mile.

Food and drinks: As you settle down, you are welcomed with an assortment of drinks- alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Their rum-punch went like hot cakes amongst the other eight who shared the business class with me. I downed an orange juice and declined a second, which was very helpfully offered.

Breakfast was cheese omelette, served with my personal favourite hot chocolate. And that’s not all, dinner option that I chose was chicken with basmati saffron rice. A cheesecake platter is brought to you soon after you finish the main course and you get to take your time choosing one (or two) of delicious cheesecakes. Before landing, dainty sandwiches are brought with champagne which is what’s needed after a long flight.

Entertainment: A mix of latest Hollywood and Bollywood movies are on offer for this flight. And, you also have the option of creating your own playlist which runs in the background as you check on the journey map of your trip. The noise-cancellation head phones do a marvellous job and you would not miss even a beat. And, you get to keep watching the movie or listening to music as the plane taxies in to a stop in Hong Kong.

The toilets: Business has its own loo up front. It was tidy and very clean throughout the long flight. And, in the loos you get Pure Fiji body lotion and Pure Fiji hand soap at your disposal.

Luggage: Business passengers are allowed two items of cabin baggage and there’s plenty of room in the overhead lockers.

In the hold, Business passengers get 40kg; for Economy it’s a regulation 23kg.

The airport experience: With a business class ticket, you get straight through the lines, with no waiting. It is the same for check-ins, immigration and boarding. You clear through to the lounge within minutes.

Would I fly this again? At F$2929 return fare for an adult, definitely yes. With Hong Kong fast emerging as a tourist destination choice for many working Fijians, flying Fiji Airways Business Class is the way to go.
