Sinai Soldiers To Be Re-deployed

As part of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Contingency Plan, all members of the Territorial Force (TF) who had just returned from Sinai would now be attached temporarily with RFMF.

RFMF Commander Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto said their attachment would end when they were sent on a peacekeeping mission.

He said some members of 105 soldiers who had just returned some were TF.

These soldiers would be deployed to the Golan Heights in July, he said.

He said that they would be using the Russian weapons while in the Golan Heights.

According to the RFMF Commander they were advanced weapons.

“Some of these weapons are heavier machine guns that are required over there right now and will be better protected than the ones they currently have,” he said.

Meanwhile the RFMF peacekeeping director, Commander Humphrey Tawake said the contingency plan would help the TF meet their financial engagements.
