Three months after Cyclone Winston a group made up of a major resort, a chemical distributor and a n on Governmental Organisation visited the village of Nabalabala in Ra last Saturday.

Situated near Barotu Village, Nabalabala Village was one of the worst hit areas in Rakiraki during Cyclone Winston.

Village spokesperson Mario Keni said the visit was very timely and expressed his appreciation to the staff of Shangri- La Fijian Resort, Rosie Tours, Red Cross Fiji and Fiji Chemicals.

“There are altogether 245 people in this village and we are still in a situation of recovering after the cyclone hit,” Mr Keni said.

He said the resources they had received from the visitors would be of great help.

“Around 52 homes were completely destroyed and the tents that our well-wishers have brought us will be of great help,” he said.

The village is covered with rich vegetation with the majority of the villagers doing cash crop farming.
