Vodafone Fijian 7s reps delighted the fans at the Millennium Sinu Festival in Valelevu, Nasinu last night.

The crowd cheered for their heroes as Jasa Veremalua, Apisai Domolailai, Alifereti Veitokani and Seremaia Tuwai escorted the contestants to the main stage.

“It’s a blessing for Nasinu as we rarely have players like Jasa Veremalua, Apisai Domolailai and Alifereti Veitokani from Nadroga here,”team manager Ropate Kauvesi said.

Our men back in camp

The Vodafone Fijian 7s squad marched into camp yesterday at the Uprising Beach Resort in preparation for the Rio Olympics in August.

Speedster Savenaca Rawaca is back with the team after he was injured during the Hong Kong Sevens in April.

Other players

Team manager Ropate Kauvesi said all the players in the Vodafone Flying Fijians squad for the Pacific Nations Cup and France-based players Josua Tuisova, Semi Kunatani and Waisea Nayacalevu would join camp later in the week.

Jarryd Hayne arrived in the country yesterday.

“He has been doing his homework as well in Sydney and should be ready for camp.”

Kauvesi said preparation for Rio would be intense.

“The next six weeks will be very tough and competitive as well.”

Coach Ben Ryan will name the 12 players on July 18 and the team departs for Rio  on July 24. Edited by Osea Bola
