Two people were rushed to the Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital after being involved in a road accident yesterday in Lami.

A taxi collided with a four-wheel drive at Kalokolevu Village outside Lami.

There were three passengers with the driver in the taxi. The passengers escaped injuries and the taxi driver suffered minor injuries.

The four-wheel drive vehicle driver, who wished not to be identified, said: “I was on my way to Navua from Suva with my wife.

“All of a sudden I remembered that I had to return to Suva to attend an urgent meeting,” he said.

He said he was turning his vehicle when the accident happened.

He said things happened all of a sudden.

“We are so lucky to survive.  My wife suffered minor injuries and she was taken to hospital,” he said.

Meanwhile, Police continue with investigations.
