Jarryd Hayne is learning to cope with the new training methods of the Vodafone Fijian 7s squad at the Uprising Beach Resort in Pacific Harbour.

Although he missed out on the demanding five back-to-back yoyo tests on Wednesday, he said the practices have been intense with all of the players vying for a place in the final squad for the Rio Olympics.

Hayne made the comment in Nadi yesterday when he was named as Fiji Airways global ambassador.

“Not being there for the majority of the tournaments was tough and I have to learn pretty quick,” he said

“But as you saw last year I was able to learn pretty quickly and make the San Francisco 49ers team, so this is another challenge and just as hard.”

When asked if he would consider representing Fiji in the 15-man game, Hayne was reluctant to look too far ahead of his ambitious Olympics quest.

“I’m not too sure. I think there’s so much going on with what I’ve got to do with the sevens. Sure, I’ve thought about it, but the focus is on the 7s and transforming my body.
