Suva is out to win the 2016 Vodafone Fijian FACT tournament, says Gurjit Singh.

The Suva coach was confident as the team arrived in Labasa yesterday for the first Fijian Football Association-sanctioned tournament of 2016.

“We will try our best to win this tournament,” Singh said.

“The last time Suva won FACT in Labasa was in 1995. And the last time Suva won FACT was when I came in as a coach in 2012.

“Although we dropped a few senior players, I’ve brought a good team.

“As always I’ve highlighted on the importance of discipline and this is something that I will not compromise.

“No matter who you are or where you are from, my message is very clear. This is something we need to build on for the future.”

National rep Rusiate Matererega and Sakaraia Naisua were dropped for disciplinary reasons.

“As far as competition is concerned, I am expecting a good performance.

“All teams have prepared well and would surely try to win and so I am expecting a good competition.”

The 21-member squad is camping at Labasa Police Station barracks.

Suva plays Lautoka today at Subrail Park in Labasa at 1pm, Labasa at 6pm on Saturday and Nadroga 12.30pm on Sunday.

In other matches today, Nadi plays Dreketi at 3pm, Ba takes on Rewa at 5.30pm while in the last match of the day, Nadroga plays hosts Labasa at 7.30pm.
