Lorraine Raiwalui Suka became the first person to donate online for Team Fiji yesterday.

The chairlady of Fijian sports support group, ‘8th Man Europe’ was the first Fijian overseas to donate $300 to Team Fiji.

The group played a lead role in helping the Vodafone Fijian 7s team during the World Sevens Series in the last three years.

Suka urged Fijians to donate for our national teams.

“As a chairperson for an organisation that supports all sports in Fiji, Fiji’s 8th Man Europe, personally it is with great pleasure that I be the first Fijian abroad to show my support with this very small donation to kick start your financial campaign to Rio,” she said.

Suka congratulated all the athletes who have made it to the 31st Olympic Games.

“All of your years of hard work, sweat and occasional tears have earned you to showcase your God-given talent on the international stage.

“Now you’ve all made it the onus is on us Fijians to showcase our support to our very own Team Fiji. When I say Fijians I don’t only mean those in Fiji but Fijians all over the world.”

Suka said the online donation portal would be the best platform for overseas supporters.

“The best way for Fijians and all supporters of Team Fiji overseas is to log on to this online portal where all donations go to Team Fiji to help them prepare as best as they can for Rio 2016.

“Our sons and daughters need your support as they fly that noble banner blue high at the 2016 Olympic Games. Vinaka Vakalevu ,Go Fiji Go.”
