Ministry of Employment staff today dedicated two hours for a clean-up exercise in support of the nationwide “Clean Up Fiji – Fight the Bite” campaign.

The clean-up was headed by the Minister for Employment, Semi Koroilavesau, and organised through the ministry’s social club as part of its corporate social responsibility

Minister Koroilavesau said mosquito-borne diseases can be reduced when workers and employers worked together to eliminate mosquito breeding places around their workplaces especially garages and warehouses.

“When you clean up your surroundings you help your co-workers, neighbours, visitors and yourselves become protected from mosquito-borne diseases,” Minister Koroilavesau said.

The Minister said without a healthy workforce, a person cannot contribute effectively to society or a productive employment environment.

The Employment Minister urged all workers and employers to ensure their work environment was clean and free from mosquito–breeding receptacles.
