Vodafone Fijian 7s team Olympic preparation will be tougher next week, says head coach Ben Ryan.

The team concluded their first week of preparation at the Sigatoka sand dunes yesterday.

Ryan said they were blessed to have the sand dunes as part of their training grounds.

“The sand dunes are absolutely brilliant for our preparation – teams would die to have this sort of natural facility on their doorstep.

“Be the first of many more trips pre-Rio. Be tougher next week,” Ryan said.

Team manager Ropate Kauvesi said the session was tough for the players.

“We started our session at 6:30am and finished at 8am, it was a tough session for the boys,” Kauvesi said.

The squad will march into camp on Monday and will have another fitness test.

“There will be sore bodies over the weekend but the boys will have another fitness test on Monday,” Kauvesi said.

According to Ryan, the 7s draws for the Olympic Games will be released next week.

“But everything will be put into the pot of selection, these boys have to get fit and professional as they can be,” Ryan added.

Ryan earlier stated in eight weeks time he expects fitness level from the players to be perfect before the Rio Olympics.

Expectations from bulky forwards like Leone Nakarawa and Pio Tuwai to be hitting the 18- 19 mark in the yo-yo test while the other players which include the playmakers, rovers, wingers and forwards like Apisai Domolailai and Jasa Veremalua to hit the 22 mark.
