Beqa Applauds Youth Ministry Visit

The people of Beqa have applauded the visit by the Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports, Iliesa Delana last week.

It’s been five years since the last time the Ministry of Youth and Sports visited the island.

On Tuesday Mr Delana and his delegation from the ministry began a four-day visitation to youths around the island.

Upon hearing about his visit to the island the Rewa Provincial Office had invited the Assistant Minister to also officially open the District Meetings (Bose Ni Tikina) on the island for the two districts Sawau and Raviravi on Tuesday and Wednesday consecutively.

The district of Sawau consists of five villages; Dakuni, Dakuibeqa, Naceva, Naiseuseu and Soliaga whereas the district of Raviravi consists of four villages, Rukua, Nawaisomo, Lalati and Raviravi.

The anticipation of his visit from the young and old was high as he arrived on the island.

Speaking at the opening of both district meetings, Mr Delana stressed the importance of inclusiveness during district meetings, saying it an was a platform that should be used to raise matters that will help develop everyone in the community equally.

“This meeting as we all know is Governmental and so I would like to urge everyone to utilise this platform to raise your voice, raise issues and proposals and discuss them well. Everything that is discussed in this meeting will be taken up to Provincial Development Board and further to the Divisional Development Board,”

Speaking on behalf of the people of Raviravi district, Turaga Na Tui Raviravi, Ro Kevueli Tavainavesi said they were pleased with the Assistant Minister’s visit to their youth.
