Jack’s Nadi are the first team to qualify for the semifinals of the Vodafone Fijian FACT.

In a pulsating second day of play yesterday, Nadi remained unbeaten in Group A when they beat 4R Electrical Ba 2-0. Ba’s loss mean they have a slim chance of qualifying from Group A. Ba are now on third spot behind Rewa who only need a draw against Nadi in today’s last pool match to qualify.

In an exciting Group B match last night Suva bounced back to beat defending champions Labasa 1-0. The win has thrown the pool wide open with a three-way tussle between Lautoka, Labasa and Suva.

The Whites today play Nadroga who are already out of the tournament while Lautoka face the Babasiga Lions. Lautoka currently lead Group B with six points while Labasa and Suva have three.

Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel said they are impressed with the standard of play in the first major tournament.

“Players standard have improved a lot because of our players international exposure and we are impressed,” he said.

“We had international tours to Spain and Brazil and we can see a lot of difference in the two days and it has been impressive,” Patel said.

NEXT ROUND’S VENUE

Nadi’s Prince Charles Park and Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori are the likely venues for the Vodafone Fijian FACT 2016 semifinals and final. Patel said the two grounds were being looked at and they would decide the venue after today’s last round of games.
