“I personally inspected a few of the damages plantation sites in Ra, Ba and Naseyani as well,” he said.

“We have no choice but to clear them and harvest the whole area. In Ra we had about 500 hectors of plantation which we needed to harvest.”

“We had about 400 hectors of younger plantation which hadn’t snapped but slanted so we had been propping up plants which is quite a tedious task,” he said.

Despite the negative effect, Fiji Pine maintained its focus to plant as much as possible.

“We cannot plant in the drought period because the trees will not survive,” he said.

Mr Khan said Fiji Pine had got challenges but would continue fighting this year.

He added the company recorded operating profit before tax of $24.2 million last year compared to fives year ago.

“This is the great energy that we get from the workers which is brilliant for the future,” he said
