Five senior national players were sent off in the pool rounds of the Vodafone Fijian FACT which ended at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.

And the Fiji Football Association will recruit a psychologist to help our players.

Fiji FA vice-president/national team director Tarunesh Reddy was concerned with the indiscipline especially when it involved senior and national reps.

The players involved are Jack’s Nadi’s Ilimotama Jese, 4R Electrical Ba’s Avinesh Suwamy and Samuela Kautoga, Lautoka’s Valerio Nawatu.

Jese was sent off in their opening pool match against Dreketi last Friday while the other four players got red carded yesterday.

Kautoga and Suwamy were red carded in Ba’s 1-0 win against Dreketi while Nawatu and Tuilau were sent off in the Blues 1-2 loss to Labasa.

“Our national reps should lead by example but their behaviour and indiscipline is a matter of great concern,”Reddy said.

This is the least we expect from them.”

Reddy said Fiji FA would seek the help of an expatriate to assist the players for the Rio Olympics in August and the 2018 FIFA World Cup Oceania playoffs in November.

“We aim to bring a psychologist to assist our teams with their mental preparation,”Reddy said.

“We are hoping to make the appointment before the Rio Olympics to work with our national coach Frank Farina.”

Ba 1-0 Dreketi

Ba needed goals to secure a place in the semifinal but their hopes were denied when Kautoga and Suwamy were shown red cards for their reckless play.

Labasa 2- 1Lautoka

The Blues needed a draw to qualify for the semifinals but Nawatu and Tuilau let the team down after they were sent off in the first half for unsportsmanlike behaviour. They made it easy for the Babasiga Lions to qualify for the semifinals from Pool B.

The semifinals and final of the Vodafone Fijian FACT will be held at Ratu Cakobau Park on July 2 and 3.
