 Conspiracy to Defraud- Influencing a Public official contrary to Section 329 of the Crimes Decree 2009

 

Update

This matter was called today (23.06.16) at the Suva Magistrates’ Court before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili.

Mukesh Shankarsinh Purohit has been convicted of using a forged document and conspiracy to defraud-influencing a public official.

He used a birth certificate knowing that it was false and conspired with another person with the intention of dishonestly influencing Fiji Immigration Officers in their exercise of their duties in the issuance of passport.

He had pleaded guilty earlier this month.

The State read the Summary of facts today (23.06.16).

The matter has been adjourned to 7 July 2016 for Sentencing and Mitigation submissions.
