Two women from Tailevu were proud to be platoon commanders at the Republic of Fiji Military Force (RFMF) Commander, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto’s parade at the Queen Elizabeth’s Barracks ground in Nabua yesterday.

Lieutenant Venina Vakadewavosa from Cautata Village was Platoon 2 commander of Detachment 6 while Lieutenant Melea Vasuca from Naitutu Village was Platoon 2 commander of Detachment 2.

Lieutenant Vakadewavosa said she was really proud being a platoon commander in front of the new RFMF Commander.

The same sentiment was echoed by Lieutenant Vasuca.

The two women officers attended the cadet course in 2008 and after graduating had participated in some major parades.

They said the parade was very special as it was the Commander’s first parade after he was officially sworn in.

The parade commander was the Land Force Commander, Colonel Sapenasa Motufaga.
