RFMF Gets $96.4m

A total of $96.4million was allocated for the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces.
This was revealed by the Minister for Finance, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while announcing the 2016/2017 National Budget in Parliament last night.
The Minister for Immigration, National Security and Defence, Timoci Natuva, said the budget allocated for RFMF would be focused on the development of Black Rock in Nadi.
He said Black Rock was in need for a facelift as it was the peacekeeping centre for the region and it would take a while to complete; money would be allocated for this.
Mr Natuva said the centre was important as it was where Fijian troops trained before they leave for peacekeeping overseas; work was already underway.
Republic of the Fiji Military Forces Commander, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto, declined to comment.
