Vodafone Flying Fijians lock forward Leone Nakarawa says fitness is his top priority preparing for a spot in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Making his transition from 15s to 7s, the Mokoisa, Tavuki, Kadavu man finds his first week of training at the Uprising Beach Resort very tough and challenging.

“It’s a big transition from 15s to sevens and preparation is tough,” Nakarawa said.

“I joined training this week and it’s been very hard because 7s involves more running so we need to lift our fitness level.”

Nakarawa, who is well known for his offloading skills, believes players will need to get every small things right which includes attitude, discipline and on the field performance in order to achieve their target.

“I read in the newspapers last week what coach Ben Ryan said regarding discipline, attitude and diet. This week I experienced it and I came through it and I think it will really help the team.

“There are obstacles if you want to achieve bigger things but we have to move forward and I think we will achieve what we want.”

The outspoken Kadavu man agrees competition within the 23-member extended squad is tough.

“My main aim is to make the final 12 players but at the same time we have good boys who have good skills but I have to work on my strength and my discipline.

“All these small things contribute to bigger things and when you work on small things then everything will come into place.”
