Win A Bonus: Malaysia

The Malaysia football team aim to win the international friendly against the Frank Farina-coached Vodafone Fijian national side at Prince Charles Park tomorrow.
The side is ranked 173rd in the world and surely looking to continue the winning streak after edging New Caledonia 2-1 on Wednesday. They had gone down 2-0 to Papua New Guinea earlier.
Head coach Ong Kim Swee said they knew Fiji took part in the OFC Nations Cup in Papua New Guinea.
“We know that Fiji last played in the OFC Nations Cup and we are also preparing for the regional AFF Suzuki Cup in November,” he said.
“Our objective is not in the result, but it is in the preparation of the team giving the 23 players to play rather than the 11 or the 13 players. Winning is not important, but if we win then it is bonus.”
Malaysia is bolstered with the return of experienced goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi, who missed the match against PNG after he was barred from travelling with the team failing to settle some alleged income tax dues back home.
Other notable players include veteran Amri Yahyah, 35, (striker), Hazwan Bakri (striker) and Aidil Zafuan (defender) and captain of the side.
“We are very concerned about playing at 2pm. Back home we don’t play at that time as it is too early for us, but I expect good performance from the players,”
Fijian Football vice-president Jitendra Kumar welcomed the team at Nadi International Airport on Thursday.
